We believe in the power of storytelling to heal, connect, and empower military women.

Our nonprofit provides a safe and supportive space for women who have served to share their experiences, find their voices, and build lasting bonds of sisterhood.

Healing Connection & Empowerment Through Storytelling

Our Purpose

At Stories of the Sisterhood (SOS), everything we do is rooted in three powerful pillars—Healing, Connecting, and Empowering.

Together, they reflect the transformative journey every military woman experiences through storytelling.

Healing

Storytelling opens the door to healing. When a woman shares her story, she releases pain, finds understanding, and begins to see her strength in a new light. Healing starts with being heard—and continues as she embraces her truth.

Connecting

Through shared stories, we build unbreakable bonds of sisterhood. Each woman’s voice reminds another that she is not alone. Our circles create spaces of belonging, where shared experiences spark compassion, community, and collective strength.

Empowering

As women heal and connect, they rise. Empowerment comes when they reclaim their narratives, step into leadership, and use their voices to inspire change. Together, we amplify the voices of military women and shape a legacy of strength and unity.

Programs & Initiatives

At Stories of the Sisterhood (SOS), we turn storytelling into a tool for empowerment, healing, and connection. Each of our programs is designed to help military women discover their voice, own their story, and use it to inspire others. Through creative expression and community support, we help women move from silence to strength.

Storytelling Workshops

Our guided workshops teach women how to transform their experiences into powerful narratives.

Participants learn the art of storytelling through writing, journaling, and spoken word, gaining the confidence to share their truth with authenticity and impact.

Story Circles & Community Gatherings

These safe, supportive spaces bring women together to share their stories and connect through shared experiences. Story Circles foster belonging, sisterhood, and understanding among women from all branches and backgrounds.

Publishing Pathways

Through our partnership with Camouflaged Sisters Publishing, SOS offers opportunities for military women to publish their stories in books, blogs, and digital platforms—ensuring their voices reach and inspire a wider audience.

Healing Through Writing Initiatives

We incorporate journaling and reflective writing as pathways to personal growth, emotional release, and resilience. These programs encourage women to process their journeys while reclaiming power over their narratives.

Speaking & Leadership Development

SOS prepares women to step confidently onto public platforms—whether on stage, in media, or within their communities. By sharing their stories, they learn to lead with authenticity, strength, and purpose.

What are Story Circles?

Story Circles are small, guided gatherings where military women come together in a safe, supportive space to share their personal stories and listen to the stories of others. The focus is not on performance or perfection — it’s on connection, authenticity, and healing through shared experience.

Each Story Circle centers around a specific theme or prompt (for example: “Transition and Transformation,” “Courage in Uniform,” or “Finding My Voice After Service”). Participants are invited to reflect, write, and share from the heart, in whatever form feels right: spoken, written, or even just listening.

Healing

Story Circles create an emotionally safe environment where participants can release, process, and heal through storytelling.

Connection

They build community and sisterhood among women who share the unique bond of military service, reminding participants they’re not alone.

Empowerment

By voicing their stories, women reclaim ownership of their narrative and gain confidence to share their experiences beyond the circle.

Legacy

Story Circles preserve the lived experiences of military women, contributing to the collective narrative and inspiring future generations.
